Just had to share this image tonight. I went to Butterfly World this morning for about an hour and a half. Towards the end of my visit I was crossing a small foot bridge when I spotted this beautiful fellow on the wooden railing. I paused to take several shots of him at different camera settings. I considered this a great find and did not want the focus or depth of field to come out wrong.

This butterfly is known properly as a Prepona Omphale.  I couldn’t find much online about this creature, except the Latin name I just gave you and a nickname of “Blue Belly Button Butterfly”. It’s very similar in appearance to the Purple King Shoemaker, except this one has dark blue where the purple would be. Thanks for visiting and I hope this image was as pleasing to you as it was to me.
